Main Street Advisory Board

The Pittsburg's Main Street Advisory Board mission is to value and honor our past while we focus on creating a vibrant future by implementing the Texas Main Street Organization's Four Point Approach which is a comprehensive strategy tailored to meet local needs and opportunities through Design, Economic Vitality, Promotion and Organization.

The Main Street Advisory Board builds strong relationships and encourages public-private partnerships to enhance economic vitality while preserving the historic character and charm of Pittsburg's traditional commercial district through a community-based organization. To assist in accomplishing this mission the Pittsburg EDC has funded reimbursement incentive grants:

  • Front Façade Grant - matching up to $10,000
  • Front Façade Grant - matching up to $10,000
  • Interior Improvement Grant - matching up to $15,000
  • Rear Façade Grant - matching up to $10,000
  • Sign Grant - matching up to $500

All funds have been granted for fiscal Oct2021/Sept2022. New applications will be accepted starting Oct 1, 2022.

Historic District / Mainstreet Overlay Guide

The purpose of the Historic Zoning District/Main Street Overlay is to foster a strong viable downtown as a commercial business, civic, residential and cultural center with its own unique identity and provide a mechanism to establish special land use regulations, standards, or procedures in a defined area with unique land use, site planning or building design.

Building Projects & Approval Process

Design approval is required for changes to the outside of any building or property in the Historic District/ Special Zoning Main Street Overlay (see map (DOC))

  1. Schedule a pre-application meeting with the Main Street Manager and Building Inspector. They will determine what applications/permits and approvals are needed for the project. Bring all conceptual materials to this meeting for review.
  2. Complete and submit all required applications/permits for the project. Various city departments will review each component to ensure compliance with all ordinances and codes.
  3. Once Certificate of Occupancy (COO) and Design are approved you will be notified and work may begin.
  4. Begin work. Make sure to schedule the appropriate inspections throughout the process.
