Medical
In 2008, the East Texas Medical Center (ETMC) system undertook the task of constructing a new hospital facility, one that would mirror the quality of care provided there. This state-of-the-art facility opened in September 2009, located in a pastoral setting just outside the city on U.S. Highway 271 North. In 2018 ETMC joined the University of Texas (UT) Health family, partnering with a community of people dedicated to delivering compassionate service to bring East Texas the world-class care it deserves.
The hospital features a 25-bed nursing unit with private rooms, 16 clinic spaces, two surgical suites and a gastrointestinal laboratory. The emergency department includes six exam rooms, two observation rooms and a two-bay major treatment room.
The campus also houses the Patty and "Bo" Pilgrim ETMC Olympic Center, a state-of-the-art health and fitness center.
Expansion of the Surgery Department
In February 2013, the hospital broke ground for an expansion of the surgery department. The area houses two rooms dedicated to gastroenterology and pain management procedures.

In recent years the hospital has added services in response to community needs as well, such as coagulation monitoring clinics and extending the hours of the UT Health East Texas Physicians clinic to evenings and weekends.
